A chapter in Corporate Management Ecosystem in Emerging Economies, 2023, pp 165-184 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter examined the sustainable tourism practices in Bangladesh, specifically the opportunities and challenges for the tourism industry while promoting sustainable tourism in Bangladesh. The systematic review of the literature indicated that three major tourism destinations in Bangladesh are Dhaka, Chittagong, and Sylhet. The study compared three destinations to understand the challenges and opportunities, especially considering the strategic approach required in the current situation. Our analysis concluded that the Bangladesh tourism industry has potential for protecting and promoting sustainable practices. However, the major challenges include protecting natural resources and promoting regional culture. The infrastructural challenges are affecting the industry, but regional authorities’ efforts are commendable in ensuring sustainable practices.
