Chapter 4 in The MBA Compass, 2023, pp 53-64 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter explores the critical factors business schools weigh up when deciding to admit an MBA applicant. It underscores the significance of presenting yourself as a “T-shaped person” who possesses a breadth of knowledge spanning multiple disciplines and deeper expertise in one specific area. The chapter identifies eight dimensions that schools prioritize, such as academic excellence, professional accomplishments, job market suitability, leadership potential, and involvement in extracurricular activities. It discusses the role of academic qualifications, career achievements, and the capacity to contribute to the classroom environment. The chapter also sheds light on the competitive nature of MBA programs.
