Chapter Chapter 3 in Loop Quantum Gravity for the Bewildered, 2024, pp 19-32 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter covers the essentials of quantum field theory. Topics discussed include the curvature of gauge fields and the definition of the covariant derivative, the effect of promoting global gauge transformations to local gauge transformations, Wilson lines and the concept of holonomies which play a central role in the loop formulation of quantum gravity, and the dynamics of quantum fields in both the Lagrangian and Hamiltonian frameworks. The concept of self-duality is introduced through the use of bivectors and differential forms.
