Chapter Chapter 8 in Loop Quantum Gravity for the Bewildered, 2024, pp 119-141 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter covers the application of loop quantum gravity to the study of black hole entropy, as well as the large-scale evolution of spacetime through loop quantum cosmology. The connection between information theory and thermodynamics is discussed, and developed in the context of spin networks puncturing an event horizon from several perspectives including a number-theoretical approach, entropy of entanglement, and Chern-Simons theory. The application of loop quantum gravity to Friedmann-LeMaitre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) models is explored, with particular attention given to whether singularities can occur, and the implications of this for Big-Bang/Big Bounce scenarios.
