A chapter in Trails in Modern Theoretical and Mathematical Physics, 2023, pp 249-252 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract I retain a precise memory of when I first saw Gianni Morchio: it was in November 1992, when I was a third-year student in Physics at the University of Pisa. He was in charge of the exercise sessions of the course of “Metodi Matematici della Fisica”, held by Giampaolo Cicogna. He entered the room timidly, left his books and notes on the desk, and suddenly started speaking and writing. It became crystal clear that his style was defintely new to us: we were not used to look at things from such a height. Gianni talked to us as he would to his colleagues: it was for him the only possible way to talk about Mathematics and Phyiscs: with the deepest respect for science as well as for the audience. As a student, I greatly appreciated the way Giampaolo Cicogna introduced the analysis of Hilbert spaces: fast but clear, so that everything seemed to be simple and natural. Extremely pedagogical and effective, so how could one ask for more?
