Abstract This chapter details the main variations of two of the main techniques for collecting qualitative data, the interview and observation. Table 5.1 describes the distinctive aspects of eight types of interviews, while Table 5.2 describes the distinctive aspects of four types of observations. In addition to the interview and observation, this chapter discusses collection techniques through third parties (crowdsourcingCrowdsourcing), collection of documents and artifactsArtifact in the field, as well as open-ended questionsOpen-ended question.
