Abstract: Abstract Hendrik S. (Henk) ( Houthakker, H.S. (1955–1956). ‘The Pareto Distribution and the Cobb–Douglas Production Function in Activity Analysis’. Review of Economic Studies, 23(1): 27–31.)1924–2008) was a Dutch-American economist who taught at Harvard University from 1960 to 1994. In 1950, he achieved a permanent place in the pantheon of economic thought, at age 26, in introducing the strong axiom of revealed preference to establish the equivalence of Samuelson’s revealed preference with the Slutsky-Hicks theory of demand. Further seminal contributions of Houthakker, H.S. (1955–1956). ‘The Pareto Distribution and the Cobb–Douglas Production Function in Activity Analysis’. Review of Economic Studies, 23(1): 27–31.included detailed study of futures and financial markets, clarification of Keynes’s concept of normal backwardation, underpinning of the Cobb–Douglas production function on the Pareto distribution, additive preferences and the dynamics of consumer behaviour.
