Chapter 38 in The Palgrave Companion to Harvard Economics, 2024, pp 943-973 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Oliver D’Arcy Hart, with coauthors Sanford Grossman and John Moore, developed property rights theory (PRT), introducing the first rigorous models of the boundary of the firm. PRT revolutionised the way economists think about organisations, and has influenced just about every major field in economics. Hart’s recent work includes behavioural contract theory and corporate social responsibility.
