Chapter Chapter 10 in Rethink Economics and Business Models for Sustainability, 2024, pp 135-152 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Companies are part of a global economy and global value chains of products, sometimes fostering global inequality. Understanding the depth of these consequenses of the global value chains are important if a company, a state, a municipality, or an organization want to work with especially the visionary SDGs. It is important not just to fall back into a local philanthropic mindset. If an organization chooses to work with the visionary goals, as SDGs 1, 2, or 4, it is because it delivers a unique product or solution that fosters real change of the challenges stated in these SDGs. Here the visonary goals are discussed in a Nordic context and the need for understanding a implementing in the full value chain is emphasised, as an example hunger is not a result of lack of food production but a lack of distribution of food due to corruption and other human misconduct. We underestimate the power of equality also from a economical view point. The links between trust, free access to education, an equality is descussed through a Nordic lens and reflections on how this impacts financial stability, wealth and proserity is included in this chapter.
