We are not claiming that everything worth knowing about technological progress can and must be reduced to numerical measurements; indeed, the previous chapters should convince you that economic science is still struggling to explain technical progress, or the SolowSolow, Robert M. residual after almost 7 decades of extensive and ongoing research (books and articles) that could fill an entire library.
