Chapter Chapter 4 in Knowledge and Learning in Organizations, 2024, pp 45-55 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter we explore the analytical category “Dealing with the nature of the academic and manager relationship”. In the framework it is represented by the clay cauldron, the material that gives a special flavor to the broth in chemical transformation with food. We take into account elements such as teaching contributing to management and vice-versa, research contributing to management, and the weight of the interaction between manager and professor. Within this context, we conclude with opportunities, challenges, and guidelines regarding academic managers’ development of skills, attitudes, and behaviors, emphasizing the importance of their role in university management.
