Chapter Chapter 2 in Global Changes and Sustainable Development in Asian Emerging Market Economies: Volume 2, 2024, pp 19-36 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The digital economy is considered very important and an inevitable trend of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. However, to successfully develop the digital economy, countries need to have a clear strategy and roadmap. For Vietnam, developing the digital economy still faces many issues ranging from legal framework, technology infrastructure to human resources for digital economy development. Many countries around the world have successfully developed the digital economy and can provide useful experiences to help Vietnam learn and draw lessons to develop a flexible and efficient digital economy. This chapter focuses on the concept of “digital economy” and studies the lessons learned from the development of the digital economy in South Korea, China, and Singapore. From there, the chapter draws lessons to promote the development of the digital economy in Vietnam in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
