Chapter Chapter 9 in Behavioural Economics, 2025, pp 181-217 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract An agent who makes a decision under uncertainty faces a set of possible states of the world. One of these states occurs, but the agent does not know which one. An example is Redelmeier’s Hollywood actress who has symptoms which could be consistent with various diseases. In this example the states are the possible diseases. Other examples are the performance of the stock market, the result of an election, or the future rise in temperature.
