Abstract:
Abstract A simple example is used to illustrate the numerical method developed in the book for characterizing probabilistically extremes of inputs and outputs of dynamical systems. Extremes are rare, low-probability events whose description requires data and mathematical models. The organization of the material in the book is discussed at the end of this chapter.
