Chapter Chapter 1 in The Digital Paradigm Shift for a New Business DNA, 2025, pp 1-18 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter examines recent societal changes and their impact on consumers, companies, and societies from a holistic perspective. It revisits the fundamental purpose of companies, contrasting their profit-driven nature with their original goal of meeting individual needs. Emphasizing a consumer-oriented approach, it argues for integrating marketing activities coherently across various perspectives. The chapter stresses the importance of focusing on value generation and profit margins rather than just sales volumes. By reasserting the true purpose of companies, it introduces key themes: the book’s rationale goes beyond traditional views, highlighting how new technologies, when effectively integrated into business activities, can create value for individuals and society. This fosters a sustainable business orientation that enhances overall wellbeing and maximizes individual satisfaction. The discussion illustrates how businesses can align with a sustainable agenda, benefiting both consumers and society through the strategic use of digital advancements.
