Chapter Chapter 12 in Startup Valuation, 2024, pp 525-568 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Financial technology (FinTech) serves as a revolutionary element within the financial sector, propelled by inventive startups and swiftly expanding companies that utilize technology to improve financial services. Arising in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, FinTech merges e-finance, artificial intelligence, big data, and social media to develop groundbreaking solutions. Valuing FinTech firms, especially startups, and scaleups, presents complexities due to their mixed business models and significant growth prospects. Grasping the distinctive value components of FinTech startups and scaleups is vital for precise valuation, influencing investment choices, and reinforcing their crucial role in transforming the financial arena.
