Abstract:
Abstract This chapter discusses the life and work of Abhijit Banerjee (1961–). It describes the intellectual evolution and contributions made by Banerjee to the economics of information, growth, political economy and development economics, as well as his more recent work on network economics. There is also a discussion of the motivation and significance of his Nobel Prize-winning work to use randomised field experiments for understanding the drivers and potential solutions for poverty.
