Abstract:
Abstract Developments from 1944 to 1947 are extensively discussed. The efforts to stabilize the currency by Greek economists during the period of UN and British assistance are analyzed, with emphasis on the London Agreement of 1946 and the creation of the Currency Committee. An analysis of the work of the American economists Gardner Patterson and Charles Coombs, the interaction between Varvaressos and Acheson and the positions of Greece in international economic organizations is also provided.
