Chapter Chapter 18 in Patent Valuation, 2025, pp 651-680 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Determining the economic value of a patent is crucial for investment decisions, licensing negotiations, and litigation but can be challenging because of uncertainties surrounding technology, regulations, and market conditions. When considering ESG, there are no universal metrics for evaluating sustainability-based valuation. Blockchain and other emerging technologies promise transparency but face regulatory pitfalls. Thereby, a hybrid approach, which incorporates elements from all three highlighted approaches, financial modeling, strategic assessment, and developing frameworks, will be vital for accurate patent valuation within a dynamic competitive environment.
