Chapter Chapter 9 in Patent Valuation, 2025, pp 329-363 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Patent assessment has progressed beyond conventional financial indicators, integrating sophisticated methodologies such as real options analysis, SWOT framework, ESG considerations, and binomial models. Real options analysis affords adaptability in evaluating patents amid uncertain market dynamics, while the SWOT framework delineates strategic advantages and disadvantages within patent portfolios. Binomial models and Monte Carlo simulations refine patent forecasting by accommodating volatility and flexibility in decision-making. This chapter investigates how these analytical frameworks enhance patent valuation methodologies, bolster risk evaluation, and synchronize patent management with overarching corporate strategic objectives.
