Abstract:
Abstract The Swiss franc still enjoys some reputation as a safe haven asset. We see that at the time of writing when the franc is climbing, not just against the dollar but also the euro, as anxiety in the marketplace grows about a US-led tariff war of which the core is conflict between the US and China. The continuing haven role of the franc is an oddity at first sight given that important core elements in its attraction as haven have diminished markedly over recent decades.
