Abstract:
Abstract This article aims to contribute to a better knowledge of the entrepreneurial orientation in companies, considering it as a performance improvement factor, with a case study of a Portuguese SME from the tourism industry. Entrepreneurship, emerging as one of the main factors of development and growth, is usually taken at the individual level, but companies can also be entrepreneurial, allowing them to have business success and stand out from the competition. The entrepreneur is one who takes advantage of business opportunities, taking risks of different types, and bearing in mind innovation and the need for differentiation to achieve success. The company’s entrepreneurial orientation positively influences the performance of the companies and individuals. The study methodology involved electronic literature with a search and selection of articles based on keywords, with the various articles being refined by categories to establish the main common dimensions. After, an open question survey with one entrepreneur offered a first test to the validation of the level of entrepreneurial orientation. This paper ends presenting some future recommendations we hope will be valuable for the success of entrepreneurial initiatives (individual and collective), and for entrepreneurship learning and teaching.
