Abstract: Abstract In the current age of global economy, the transition from a traditional the linear economy to the circular economy is significantly important for promoting environmental sustainability and as well as economic growth. Studies have recognized that practice of the circular economy in economic sector is a multifaceted approach which needs a comprehensive understanding. The current study was carried out to understand the present scenario of traditional the linear economy and the potential use of the circular practices for resource use and waste minimization through bibliometric analysis on Scopus database. For this purpose, this review aims to highlight various barriers and challenges that creates the hinderance for widespread adoption of the circular economy practices in various economy sectors at global level. The study outlines various key challenges such as economic and financial barriers, Innovation and technological barriers, infrastructural and operational challenges, stakeholder engagement challenges, and regulatory and policy challenges with the help of content analysis of available research articles. The review also talks about various examples of innovative business models and technology-driven solutions through national and international case studies which can help in overcoming these challenges and barriers. The study concludes that an integrated approach is needed to overcome these challenges. Business sector and industries should focus on innovative business models and stakeholder collaboration, while government and policymakers should create coherent regulating frameworks and financial incentives and subsidies. There is a need for promoting the academic research for knowledge generation and technological advancement if the circular economy principles. The study emphasizes that transitioning to the circular economy is crucial for addressing the environmental and economic issues generated by the linear economy model.
