Abstract: Abstract As cybersecurity becomes a critical concern globally, African nations are actively developing frameworks to safeguard digital assets and critical infrastructure. One such step is the creation of a national cybersecurity strategy. This chapter presents a comparative case study analysis of four (4) ECOWAS countries—Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Senegal—examining the cultural integration and community engagement components of their respective national cybersecurity strategies. Our analysis reveals limited incorporation of local languages in Nigeria and Ghana while Senegal and Sierra Leone recognize the necessity of cultivating a national cybersecurity culture, emphasizing awareness campaigns, education, and the importance of public–private partnerships. Significant gaps remain across all four countries, particularly the lack of strategic plans for engaging local authority structures and adapting communication to effectively reach diverse local communities. This chapter highlights the importance of culturally responsive cybersecurity frameworks for sustainable digital security throughout the region.
