Chapter Chapter 17 in Positive Leadership, 2026, pp 359-377 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract While the global pandemic has changed the way we work, human values and interaction between people still form the basis of a meaningful and sustainable workplace. This theoretical article focuses on the role of millennials in leadership by analyzing what is the definition and characteristics of millennial leadership. We provide a multigenerational analysis and an outline of millennial leadership based on a multi-method analysis involving 28 Finnish leaders from Great Place to Work companies who were interviewed. Leadership was approached from the perspective of positive psychology as a lifelong development process. Millennial leaders had a humane approach to leadership. In this chapter, we take a generational look at leadership development, seeking to define the future of positive leadership as a continuum that encompasses various generations in the workplace.
