Chapter 5 in The European Framework of Credit Intermediaries, 2026, pp 43-55 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter presents the regulatory and institutional framework for credit intermediaries in Italy, with a particular focus on the role of the Organismo per la gestione degli Elenchi degli Agenti in attività finanziaria e dei Mediatori creditizi (OAM). It explores the distinction between agents and brokers, licensing procedures, and professional standards required by law. The chapter emphasizes Italy’s strong regulatory framework, including requirements and continuous professional training obligations. It also highlights Italy’s national specificities in consumer protection, transparency, and the clear separation between agents and brokers.
