Chapter Chapter 10 in Exploring the Ideas of Tadeusz Kowalik, 2025, pp 191-248 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter presents the first English-language publication of a remarkable interview with Tadeusz Kowalik, conducted in 2004 by Edward Chudziński, Filip Ratkowski, and Paweł Kozłowski. For the first time, Anglophone readers can encounter Kowalik’s biography told in his own words—his childhood in rural poverty, wartime experiences, intellectual formation, and lifelong commitment to socialist thought. The conversation offers invaluable insights into the moral and political dilemmas of post-war Poland’s economic thinkers and their interactions with figures such as Oskar Lange, Michał Kalecki, and Edward Lipiński. Beyond its biographical value, the interview constitutes a major historical document, illuminating the evolution of economic ideas and the ethical struggles of one of Poland’s most prominent economists
