Chapter 3 in Strategic Thinking with AI, 2026, pp 63-102 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The classical strategic management process, including scan, formulate, implement, and evaluate, was originally designed for relatively stable, slow-moving environments. Widely cited in both academic literature and managerial practice, this model seeks to ensure rational decision-making and the alignment of resources toward long-term organizational goals (Hill et al., 2020; Wheelen et al., 2018). As noted in Chapter 1, these models struggle when applied to today’s VUCA conditions. Instead of repeating those limitations, this section extends the argument by examining how artificial intelligence (AI) reshapes each stage of the strategy cycle and why the classical logic of sequential planning no longer aligns with the temporal dynamics of modern competition.
