Chapter 18 in Technology, Management, and Design for Social Justice, 2026, pp 391-408 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This concluding chapter synthesizes insights from across the volume to map the evolving terrain at the intersection of technology, management, and social justice. Moving beyond technocratic and solutionist narratives, it demonstrates how technologies reconfigure power, authority, identity, and accountability in organizations and societies. Drawing on diverse theoretical traditions, including critical management studies, intersectionality, capability theory, and justice frameworks, the chapter identifies recurring mechanisms through which technological systems generate harm as well as pathways through which they can support equity and inclusion. It highlights the roles of powerful and marginalized actors within technology ecosystems, emphasizing the importance of participatory design, co-creation, and virtue-oriented governance. The chapter concludes by outlining a research, teaching, practice, and policy agenda that calls for interdisciplinary inquiry and multi-stakeholder collaboration to ensure that technological innovation contributes to socially just, humane, and sustainable futures.
