Abstract: Abstract One of the core elements of Industry 5.0 presented by the EU is human centricity. The vision of workers and workplaces in Industry 5.0 is moving toward intelligent factories that are tailored to the skills, capabilities, and preferences of employees. This is supported by solutions that empower employees and strengthen the working community. In this chapter, we present best-practice approaches for empowering employees in small and medium-sized enterprises, resulting from various research projects. The proposed solutions focus on empowerment at various levels, starting from the factory level, extending to the machine and system level, and reaching the workplace and technological level. Through these approaches we hope to inspire and enable European enterprises to start their own ways of empowering workers by exploiting Industry 5.0 concepts and technologies.
