Abstract:
Abstract For a ring R with an identity, we have the important notion of inverse (and more generally left, right inverses) for an element in R. The set of invertible elements forms the unit group U(R) of R, but this may be only a relatively small subset of R; e.g. U(ℤ) = {±1}, and U(R) = {1} for any Boolean ring R.
