Explaining Math

George Grätzer

Chapter 15 in ChatGPT for Math, 2026, pp 165-174 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Mathematics is not only about proving theorems; it is also about explaining them. I explain to myself as I try to understand a new concept, to colleagues who share my background but not my notation, and to students who may be seeing an idea for the first time. In all these situations I adapt the level of detail, the choice of examples, and the vocabulary to my audience.
