Abstract:
Abstract This chapter formalizes the Cultural Distance Integration Model (CDIM) into a mathematical framework that transforms theoretical insights into testable equations. Cultural distance is operationalized across civilizational, dimensional, and developmental levels, with interaction terms capturing compound effects. Integration success is modelled as a threshold function, demonstrating how outcomes shift from manageable to challenging to nearly impossible as cultural distance increases. Mechanism-specific models quantify cognitive dissonance, social coordination difficulties, and institutional incompatibilities, while bidirectional adaptation functions capture immigrant and host society dynamics. The framework enables empirical validation, predictive modelling, and policy optimization, bridging theory and practice in integration research.
