A chapter in Mathematicians in Bologna 1861–1960, 2012, pp 143-177 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this paper, we consider the first period of scientific and academic life of the Italian mathematician Enrico Bompiani (1889–1975), with special emphasis on the years he spent in Bologna. We put his contributions on projective differential geometry in perspective by illustrating some key features of this discipline, the main contributions of its Italian initiators, and Bompiani’s work in the Bologna years.
