Abstract:
Abstract In a number of earlier publications, I have proposed a new understanding of the Old Babylonian mathematical technique known as “algebra„, concentrating on problems of the second and to some extent of the first degree.1 As a background to the following investigation of a particular text dealing in part with problems of the third degree I shall need a summary of my methods and my main results.
