Chapter Chapter 11 in Introduction to Structurally Stable Systems of Differential Equations, 1988, pp 108-118 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract 1. We mentioned in Chapter 3 the original definition of structural stability for autonomous systems of differential equations given by Andronov and Pontryagin in [1], In this work Andronov and Pontryagin considered systems on a two-dimensional sphere, S2 or on a disc D2 ⊂ ℝ 2 ; it was supposed in the latter case that trajectories intersect the boundary of D2 entering D2 as t grows.
