Chapter Chapter 1 in An Algebraic Approach to Geometry, 2014, pp 1-50 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract During the 17th century, Fermat and Descartes start using coordinates and equations to solve and investigate geometrical problems. This is the origin of analytical geometry. We illustrate this new approach of geometry by the study conics and quadrics in the two- and three-dimensional real spaces.
