Chapter Chapter 3 in An Algebraic Approach to Geometry, 2014, pp 119-136 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The real line is provided with a natural ordering. In affine real spaces, this allows defining an orientation of the space, but also to speak of the interior or the exterior of various geometric figures. This allows also a classification of quadrics, which in the case of conics recaptures the distinction between ellipses, hyperbolas and parabolas.
