Chapter Chapter 3 in Lattice Theory: Special Topics and Applications, 2014, pp 91-130 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract While the study of planar lattices goes back to the 1970s (K.A. Baker, P.C. Fishburn, and F.S. Roberts [20] and D. Kelly and I. Rival [223]), a systematic study of planar semimodular lattices began only in 2007 (G. Grätzer and E. Knapp [140]–[144] and G. Grätzer and T. Wares [182]). This was followed by G. Czédli and E.T. Schmidt [55]–[57], and G. Czédli [44]. This chapter presents an overview of these papers.
