Abstract:
Abstract The objective of this paper was to identify barriers that thalassotherapy centers perceive they must overcome to implement and achieve certification of a Quality Management System. The method used descriptive and factor analyses to determine barriers’ importance and structure. It was conducted in 31 out of 44 national thalassotherapy centers according to 2011 records. The empirical study reveals that the most important perceived barriers are reluctance to take on new responsibilities, inadequate knowledge and lack of understanding of quality management, and resistance to change.
