Chapter Chapter 12 in Rational Extended Thermodynamics beyond the Monatomic Gas, 2015, pp 271-278 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract We establish extended thermodynamics of rarefied polyatomic gases with six independent fields via the maximum entropy principle. The distribution function is not necessarily near equilibrium. The result is in perfect agreement with the phenomenological ET theory explained in the previous Chap. 11 This is the first example of molecular extended thermodynamics with a non-linear closure. The integrability condition of the moments requires that the dynamical pressure should be bounded from below and from above.
