Chapter Chapter 2 in Why Prove it Again?, 2015, pp 7-11 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Four motives for seeking new proofs of previously established results have already been mentioned in Chapter 1 : the desires (1) to correct errors or fill perceived gaps in earlier arguments; (2) to eliminate superfluous or controversial hypotheses; (3) to extend a theorem’s range of validity; and (4) to make proofs more perspicuous.
