A chapter in Contributions in Mathematics and Engineering, 2016, pp 153-163 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract During the last five decades, various functional equations possessing a certain structure popped up in many modern disciplines like queuing theory, communication and networks. There is no universal solution methodology available for them, and the closed-form solutions are known only in some particular cases. We address several issues concerning solutions of one of such functional equations, arising in a model of the clocked buffered switch that has been represented as a queueing system.
