The Chinese Model

Wei Yen

Chapter 10 in From the Great Wall to Wall Street, 2017, pp 179-193 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract According to Fung Yu-lan, Chinese philosophers are more pragmatic in their pursuit of knowledge than their Western counterparts, who prefer to unravel mysteries of the universe and men’s relationship with it. Chinese philosophers are mainly interested in practical ideas that can help people live better lives, with a conviction that doing so will lead to contentment.
