Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter we introduce a particular type of degenerate point damping device for the one-dimensional wave equation and show that it can provide its uniform stabilization with exponential decay rate, regardless of the location of this point on the string. Its physical interpretation is explicitly described. We also extend this result to chains of strings.
