Abstract: Abstract We study the model of optics in which images are two-dimensional pixellated arrays of values on a screen, and in particular the unitary transformations that have direct correspondence with those in the paraxial geometric and wave optical models. This correspondence is established for the U(2) Fourier group that consists of rotations, gyrations, and two-dimensional Fourier transformations.
