Abstract: Abstract The present paper consists of four parts (i) a generalization of a theorem by Helly on convex bodies, (ii) two general theorems concerning generalized polynomials, (iii) applications of the first theorem in (ii) to the theory of approximations, (iv) applications of the second theorem in (ii) to the theory of polynomials that differ as little as possible from zero.
