Abstract: Abstract The present contribution aims at analyzing the economic relationships that international actors set up around the business opportunities progressively offered by the metropolitan area of Naples over Italian political Unification in order to uncover how and in what hands power was vested. From a unique and original database, data are gathered on the whole amount of enterprises and companies operating in the city. Time varying two-mode networks are defined through the relations among economic agents and institutions and then analyzed by means of exploratory network analysis tools.
