Chapter Chapter 12 in From Classical to Modern Analysis, 2018, pp 197-228 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract We construct the Lebesgue integral in three steps. First for simple functions, then for positive measurable functions, and finally for all real valued measurable functions. The more technical work is done for simple functions and is then used for the more general sets of functions.
