Abstract:
Recent years have brought an increasing demand for users to be able to do business very flexibly – ideally, any service should be available on any device, anywhere, anytime. The wide–spread presence of wireless networks and the availability of a diverse range of terminal devices have enabled the development of mobile applications. We show the foundations of a classification scheme for mobile commerce systems that help developers categorize applications according to high–level requirements and deduce basic design decisions from them. We also present a methodology for estimating the telecommunications cost that will be incurred when web–based applications are accessed over mobile networks.
